Mr. Leather Israel Contest

The 2023 contest has been postponed (and will now be the 2024 contest). We hope to be able to hold in in mid-March during Purim, on the hope that we will no longer be at a state of war.

The contest will be held at a local venue and will be followed by a festive and playful party.

Election of Mr. Leather Israel

A panel of judges who are themselves titleholders and organizers from leather communities around the world will select a titleholder and runner-up based on a series of events including a personal interview, onstage appearance, and speaking ability.

The winner will represent Israel and the middle east leather and fetish community and will be sponsored to compete for either International Mr. Leather or Mr. Fetish Europe. The winner will also organize activities to support the Israel leather and fetish community.

Contest Week Activities

A variety of activities are being planned surrounding the contest during the week of December 12-17. They will be announced here shortly.

Accommodations will be announce at a later date.

If you wish to compete for the Mr. Leather Israel title, read the rules below and then use the link at the bottom to complete a Contestant Application.

Contestant Eligibility

To be a contestant you must meet eligibility criteria.

  • Residency: The Israel Mr. Leather title is limited to citizens and legal residents of Israel, Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Egypt, and Emirati states. Contestants must prove citizenship or residency with state-issued identification. (If the winner is not from Israel, the title will change to Mr. Mid-East Leather, but titleholders agree that they represent Israel together with other Mid-East leather and fetish communities.)
  • IML or MFE Eligibility: You must be eligible to enter the International Mr. Leather (IML) Contest or Mr. Fetish Europe (MFE). This includes but is not limited to, being at least 21 years of age by the time you submit an IML contestant application.
  • Travel: You must have a valid passport (and visa if required) for travel to the 2024 contest in the United States or Europe. Given common delays in obtaining government-issued travel documents, the producers may revoke a title if the winner fails to act promptly to secure travel documents.

Contestant Requirements and Activities

To be a contestant, you must complete the application and participate in mandatory events.

  1. Application: Complete the entire contestant application in English online at the ilmrl.com website. If you have more information to present, bring copies for five judges. There is no application fee, but you are required to provide an Auction Basket (below).
  2. Auction Basket: Assemble a gift basket to be sold at a silent auction during the contest. The basket can consist of any item you think will help raise money. Proceeds from the silent auction will go directly to the winner's travel fund. It can contain as many or as few items as you like, but the more money it makes the easier it is for you to travel to events including IML or Mr. Fetish Europe. You will not be scored on how much money is raised by your basket, but you will be scored down if you do not provide one.
  3. Interview: Attend a private interview with the Contest Judges where they will ask you questions about your application, platform, and anything else that helps them to know you. Be prepared and honest; consider it a job interview. Each interview will be conducted privately with the group of Judges and not in front of the audience or other contestants.
  4. "Pecs and Personality": Appear on stage in minimal gear (jock, harness, shorts, shirtless, etc.). Answer a short question from the judges for the audience. Questions are usually humorous and provide the judges a chance to see you think on your feet (spontaneously).
  5. Full Leather and Speech: Appear on stage in full leather (shirt, pants, etc.), and give a speech for up to 90 seconds on a topic of your choice. The judges want to see how you can act as a spokesman for your community.
  6. Final Appearance: Appear on stage in the leather in which you would like to receive your title.

There will also be touring and social events before and after the contest. Contestants are welcome but not required to participate. You pay your own expenses (food, drink, entrance fees, etc.) at these events unless they have been explicitly donated to the event or purchased for you. The producers will not assume or reimburse for your expenses at these events.

Titleholder Responsibilities

Contestants commit on their application to carry out responsibilities expected of the titleholder.

  • Charity: Raise funds for charity within Israel prior to leaving for IML, and or Mr. Fetish Europe, accounting for all funds raised and disbursed with receipts and statements. Expense reimbursements may not exceed 25% of the funds raised.
  • Travel Fund: Raise funds for the Israel Mr. Leather Travel Fund, accounting for all funds raised and disbursed with receipts and statements. Expense reimbursements may not exceed 25% of the funds raised.

The titleholder may not compete for any other title until after competing for International Mr. Leather (IML) or Mr. Fetish Europe. For the rest of the title year, the titleholder must obtain permission of the Producers (32 Degrees North) to compete for another title.
  • Future Contests: Compete for either the IML title (Chicago, May 2024) or Mr. Fetish Europe (2024) following their contest rules and regulations. If funds have been raised for the Israel Mr. Leather Travel Fund, the producers will provide them for the contestant's basic travel to the contest and or hotel expense. The titleholder is responsible for his own share of hotel costs.
